AAC Support

AAC, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication, encompasses various methods and tools used to help individuals with speech or language impairments communicate more effectively. AAC aims to enhance or replace spoken communication for those who have difficulty with speech, enabling them to express their needs, thoughts, and feelings.
AAC can be used effectively with non-speaking individuals with autism. Despite what many might think, use of an AAC system does not diminish one's verbal skills, in fact, research tells us that verbal language actually may increase when AAC is utilized. Individuals are often frustrated when they lack a way to communicate. AAC offers them an opportunity to be heard and often, we see a decrease in maladaptive behaviors once an AAC system is introduced.
